Hello Folks. It has been a bit crazy around here. So here's my update.
What you don't know is that I am no longer at my job. The best part of that news is that I have work lined up to start in late July. Rather than selling theatre equipment I will be back to my old job, working as a school photographer. It's great fun to make kids smile all day, and I get summers off! It doesn't pay as much but I have a plan for that. I've recently applied to a teaching certificate program that I would be able to work on in conjunction with work. Working with the kids has been my favorite job so far, and I've decided that teaching elementary art would be the best job ever! I think it wouldn't be too hard to get a part-time art teaching job too which would be great for when we start having kids. It feels like a better long term goal, plus if I'm in the same district as James we'll have a great schedule!
There is still a lot to do for me to be able to start this certificate program in the fall, so please pray for me! This Friday I am taking the Miller Analogies Test. It's kind of like the GRE, but much stranger. Then in June I will be taking the Colorado PLACE test for both Art and Theatre (might as well). My acceptance to the program will depend on what I score on those exams. Then I will need to enroll in some summer classes to make up a few credits that I'm short in the Art Content area. I did minor in Visual Art, and my Technical Theatre degree covers a lot of the gaps, but the two courses I don't have any college credit in are Photography and Ceramics. Luckily, I can take digital photography online, and there is a one week intensive ceramics course at ACC. So I'll have plenty to keep me busy this summer.
That's not to mention that our Colorado Young Adults Advance is coming up the first weekend in June! Possibly one of my favorite events of the year! Camping, games, fellowship and God's Word! What could be better! I will be teaching at the camp again this year, so I need to get working on that as well! If anybody wants more information about camp check us out at Faithful Stewards.
The weekend after the Advance James and I will finally be moving again!!! We intended to stay in our Denver apartment only for six months, which turned into a month to month basis, which turned into a whole year here. I'm not complaining, it's been beautiful to watch the seasons change around us, and we've all gotten used to how to live with each other, but it will be nice to be in a space of our own again. So we have been preparing for that big change. Anybody want to help me move June 10th? Unfortunately I didn't realize that James is working a 2 week rental in his theatre and won't be able to help move...at all. He'll be working 10-12 hour days for 12-14 days straight! We'll miss him at the move- but it won't be too bad we're not taking much furniture with us.
The new apartment (Yes, apartment- not house- we were house hunting for a while- but when the new career plan developed we've put house buying on hold), will be back in Aurora, very near to both my mom, my sister Jamie, my siblings in law, Ted, and Charlie, Jamie and Tracey and the kids. So plenty of family around. Plus it's only about a 12 minute drive for James to his school. Much savings in gas thank you. Did you know we've already put 12,000 miles on our new car? Less than a year. Yikes! But this will be a great apartment, its larger than our first apartment, but a little smaller than the one we are in now. The one we have now though is 2 bedrooms, and this will be back to 1 bedroom.
Anyway more posts coming soon hopefully!
